Boys Basketball: Curren explodes for 32 in North Shore win over U-High

The Raiders toppled conference rival University High 56-42 on Jan. 31. Junior Austin Curren of Wilmette had a stellar performance as he tallied 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Raiders crashed the glass with five bodies as junior Flores Hondman of Wilmette also picked up eight boards.

Junior co-captain Jamie Swimmer of Glencoe put in 14 points as the Raiders posted their 11th win of the season.

Girls basketball

North Shore lost to Elgin Academy 29-27 in an overtime thriller on Jan. 31. On Senior Night the following day, the Raiders bounced back with a 45-31 victory over Christian Liberty Academy. Senior forward Michele Cervantes reentered the starting lineup to record four rebounds, three steals and a season-high four points on 2-for-2 shooting from the floor.

Senior co-captain Alex Barker turned in a well-rounded offensive effort with nine points and four assists. Senior co-captain Kim Kahnweiler of Winnetka scored 28 points and guided a tough Raider defense with four steals.
