Boys Basketball: Curren goes on scoring binge for NSCD

North Shore went 2-0 last week, defeating Elgin Academy 88-50 on Jan. 19, then returning home to defeat Harvest Christian 75-38 on Saturday.

At Elgin, juniors Austin Curren and Riley Hall (Wilmette) scored 18 and 13 points, respectively, while senior co-captain Jake Bruce had 14 points. Curren led the Raiders over Harvest with 19 points, four rebounds and three steals. Junior Jamie Swimmer (Glencoe) totaled 13 points, three rebounds and four steals.

Girls basketball

The Raiders lost to Willows Academy 50-19 on Jan. 17 and to Chicagoland Jewish HS at home 49-50.

Senior co-captain Kim Kahnweiler (Winnetka) had 24 points, seven steals against Chicagoland and freshman Annie Kroll (Winnetka) contributed 10 points and five steals. Sophomore Becca Slotkin (Evanston) gathered nine rebounds and senior co-captain Alex Barker of Lake Forest had eight points.

The Raiders pulled out an overtime victory Saturday over Chicago Hope 42-41. Kroll (13 points), Kahnweiler (12), Barker (6), freshman Simone Bergsrud of Winnetka (6) and junior Ilhana Redzovic (4) accounted for the Raiders’ scoring.
