Monday, August 26 is National Dog Day! In honor of these beloved canines, we're looking for photos of the four-legged friends in your life. We'll add your photos to this gallery.

Here is a great submission from Madeline Glenn of Winnetka. Thanks for sharing with us, Madeline!

I felt a tug on my pants as I stared at a litter of chocolate lab puppies, and I immediately knew this was the dog for my family. The rest of the litter scurried around the backyard sniffing grass and romping around. But this one continued to pull on my pants. At that time she was known as Minnie, but we soon had everyone calling her Millie. She was the runt of a litter of 8 puppies born to Hershey, a chocolate lab owned by a family that lived right across from Crow Island.

Born and bred in Winnetka, Millie is now 9 years old and is just as energetic as she was back then. Millie is known around Winnetka for her obsession of tennis balls. Whether she’s at the dog beach or one of the local parks, she will never fail to toss a ball towards you. She will eagerly gaze up at you, signaling you to throw it for her. She loves it more than she loves food. She will ignore the rest of the pups at the beach and come up to little kids with her ball, begging and pleading for them to play with her. And with that innocent look and floppy brown ears, no one can resist tossing it for her a few times. -Madeline Glenn, Winnetka IL
