On Glencoe Park Board’s miseries
Updated: July 24, 2012 12:14PM
In reading Irv Leavitt’s article about the Glencoe Park Board’s miseries, I can’t help wondering why there should be so many of those miseries happening as frequently as they now seem to be.
Anyone who wishes to attend any of those meetings could be witness to some spectacular disrespectful infighting among some of our Glencoe fellow residents who are on the current board. It’s actually quite unpleasant and certainly not productive.
That disrespect was even directed towards me by a particular board member at a recent meeting I attended. It’s a bit shocking that this kind of behavior by an elected official exists in our community.
The fact that Ms. lee who has served for a number of years as a commissioner has been insulted in this manner by this Board is inexcusable.
There are many of us in Glencoe who feel comfortable in our tax dollars going to pay for a once a year trip to these conventions for a Board member to learn and observe what other Park Districts are doing, and how we can better serve our community and Community Center.
The Park Board members need to be less divisive, more respectful, and focus on vital issues affecting our Community center. That not being the case, perhaps we would be better served to have important decisions affecting this Community Center made by other elected officials within our village government.
