What happened to the South School principal?

Updated: July 22, 2012 6:03AM

The Glencoe School District had an attractive two page spread in the Glencoe quarterly. I was shocked, however, to see the introduction of the “new South School Principal.” What did I miss? Was there a previous communication that Dr. Cinnamon was not returning?

Outrageous! Totally Outrageous! Why, short of some serious crime, would this wonderful, educated, devoted and gracious lady not be worthy of a mention as to why she’s leaving? Yes, we are entitled to know! Yes, we have paid taxes and supported the schools longer than many South School parents have been alive and we have a right to know what is happening in our governmental units.

Why all the secrecy? I’ve been a resident for 36 years and this is the first time where secrecy and silence is so pervasive. Professionals don’t sail in and out of positions with not so much as a footnote to explain what is happening. It begs the question, as an obvious and intended omission, whether or not something unpleasant has transpired. There is something very wrong and needs to be uncovered.

It behooves the Board of Education and superintendent to inform the community as to Dr. Cinnamon’s departure…and quickly! I would venture an honest response will not be forthcoming.

This is extremely sad that our children will not benefit from her professionalism and wisdom. She is a master teacher and administrator!

I hope to know where she is going so I can send them a congratulatory letter for their brilliant choice.
