The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Glencoe Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. All court appearances are at the courthouse at 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie, unless otherwise noted.
A Woodlawn Avenue woman, 49, reported May 16 that several thousand dollars worth of jewelry was missing from her bedroom. The lost pieces include a pearl necklace, three rings and an earring. Cleaning crews and several other non-family members were in the home since the jewelry was last seen March 3.
Childish scrawls were reported sprayed on five wooden panels of the Glencoe Park District skate park May 14. The graffiti may have been there over two months. Restoration estimate: $250.
A Lincolnwood man was charged May 15 with driving under the influence of drugs after he was curbed at Park Avenue and Green Bay Road. Police said a car driven by Abbad Ashraf, 21, had been seen weaving down Green Bay, and he later failed a field sobriety test. The arresting officer reported smelling marijuana, but Ashraf refused a blood test, according to police. He was also charged with illegal lane use and an equipment violation, for having a non-functioning taillight on the car. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond and is scheduled for a June 28 court appearance.
Andrew Charles Kennis, 35, of 3540 W. Diversey Parkway, Chicago, was charged early May 17 with driving without a license and aggravated speeding, after being curbed on Sheridan Road north of Beach Road. He was also charged with aggravated speeding, for allegedly driving 63 mph on a 30 zone. He posted $1,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court June 28.
