Wilmette native shines at Maine Law graduation

Elyse Apantaku of Wilmette earned her J.D. degree and won an individual award at the University of Maine School of Law graduation on May 19.

Apantaku won the National Association of Women Lawyers Recognition Award. The award goes to a Maine Law graduate who has contributed to the advancement of women in society and promoted issues and concerns of women in the legal profession.

Maine Law, one of the smallest law schools in the country, is located in Portland, Maine, and enrolls about 300 students. The school is known for excellence in marine and environmental law, public interest law, intellectual property, international law and business law, among other areas. This year, students came from five countries, 25 states and the District of Columbia.
