Nobody listens to Chester. Maybe that’s because of the cat’s attitude.
“He’s a little bit elitist, he’s a bit neurotic and he’s also paranoid,” said Michael Witwer, the Glenview native who plays Chester in “Bunnicula — A Rabbit Tale of Mystery,” 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 21-Feb. 25 at Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences, 3323 Walters Ave.
Chester is convinced that the bunny that the Monroe family found at a screening of “Dracula” is actually a vampire. “He’s kind of amazed that he seems to be the only one seeing this so he’s doing everything he can to get the others involved,” Witwer said. Chester attempts to enlist the support of Harold, the family’s dog, by singing, “Vampire Theory.”
“It’s really a cute show,” Witwer said, noting that the musical is based on the classic children’s novel by James and Deborah Howe.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 online or at the door.
