The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Glencoe Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. All court appearances are at the courthouse at 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie, unless otherwise noted.
ALCOHOL
Police responding early Monday morning to a loud party report in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue were greeted by youths fleeing in all directions. Officers found empty beer cans and the odor of roasted marijuana, and cited eight youths for underage drinking: Bryan C . Porter, 18, 1302 Sunview Lane, Winnetka; Alexander R. Pegler, 18, of 605 4th St., Wilmette; a Winnetka girl, 16; a Wilmette girl, 17; and two 17-year-old boys from Glencoe; one 17-year-old boy from Winnetka; and one 17-year-old boy from Wilmette. Homeowners were not charged, as they were not at home, and apparently surprised by the party at their home.
A Hoffman Estates woman was charged July 10 with driving under the influence of alcohol after a police officer saw her and a passenger trying to change a tire at Hohlfelder Road and Pinewood Drive. The woman allegedly appeared intoxicated, and had earlier bounced the left front wheel of her car off a curb on the way out of the Glencoe Golf Club, 621 Wesley Road. Arielle R. Weston, 22, of 2000 Hassell Road, was also charged with driving without insurance. She posted $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 1.
A Wilmette youth, 17, having attracted the attention of police with a car with a missing front plate, was cited with underage drinking after being curbed at Old Green Bay Road and Scott Avenue. The plate was inside the car.
VANDALISM
A police officer patrolling the area of Beach Road and Old Green Bay Road found that the modern art piece known as the Breakwater Sculpture had been defaced with the words, “MODERN ART.” The yellow shoe polish is expected removable with about $200 worth of work.
DRUGS
A police officer investigating a car parked in the middle of the 500 block of Old Green Bay Road reported that the driver reeked of marijuana. The Wilmette youth, 17, waiting for a passenger to get in his car, was ticketed for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, after a pipe and between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana were found. He has an Aug. 8 court date.
